How the GOP House Cut Spending Today:
A rundown of other amendments in the bill that House Republicans used to kill Planned Parenthood’s budget:
Eliminated cancer screening and basic health services for millions of poor women.
Prohibited EPA from regulating greenhouse gases.
Cut financing for the Reagan-era US Institute of Peace.
Chopped funding to the National Endowment for the Arts.
Banned financing of net neutrality regulations.
Stripped salaries from White House advisers.
Eliminated financing for firefighter grants.
But! Here’s some money they kept in the budget:
$7 million for the US Army to sponsor a NASCAR vehicle.
Restored $1.5 billion in planned cuts for Iraq War funding.
Those fucking fuckers. Who needs STD prevention, a breathable atmosphere, health care, arts & music, or freedom of information? We have motherfucking race cars and a few trillion gallons of oil that we raped and murdered and pillaged and destroyed an entire country to get.
America is fucking awesome, right?
Unpopular opinion time. While I don’t support them cutting Planned Parenthood(something that I know is a good thing from hearing about it from others), you can’t look at this list and automatically get PO’d at the government. First of all some of these programs may not be the ONLY program going towards a certain cause. Second of all the programs may not be working as well as they had hoped. There has to be some reason they considered these programs. As for spending 7 mil on NASCAR, they’re advertising. Would you be as mad if they spent the money on a minute of super bowl commercial time costing the same?
I’m not asking people to agree with me, and I’m not saying that they are right to cut funding on all these programs. I’m just asking that people don’t get their panties in a bunch until they know what’s ACTUALLY going on.
